Indoor pen setup for pet hen

Has anybody got any reviews about using this Petsmart rabbit cage for a pet hen? What should I use as bedding if I plan to keep a chicken in my bedroom?

I use a similar one for a brooder. It works fine for babies, but they kick stuff out frequently. Idk if it would be large enough for a hen.

Yes, most of the time. The cage has 7.5 square foot of space.

As babies or chicks this will work but I agree with @Aunt Angus. Not sure this will work for a full size hen. She will eventually require way more room than that cage can give her. Are you going to take her outside at all?

Hi, welcome to BYC!

I’m sorry, but keeping a lone chicken in your bedroom in that cage is just not going to work.

First of all, chickens thrive in the company of each other. You should have a minimum of 3 birds in a flock. Second, chickens are meant to live outside in a hen house. They like to scratch and peck in the dirt for bugs and other goodies.
Third of all, chickens are pretty dirty and poop a lot so keeping them as an inside pet (in your bedroom) would be extremely dirty and dusty.

You AND the hen will not be happy. Please don’t do this.

And a chicken will not thrive in a rabbit cage.
