My older babies aren't ready to go outside yet but they are outgrowing their current home. What can I do to give them more room indoors for the next couple of weeks while I finish remodeling the old coop in my back yard? They are 3 week old RIR and I have 6.

If you have a large dog cage that would probably work well. I took a bunch of large cardboard boxes, zip tied them together, placed it on a tarp and put wire over the top for a large brooder for my 8 ducklings. I took the top flaps of the boxes, faced them downwards, folded them outwards, and placed weights on the flaps to keep it from shifting. After your done with it, you can just fold it up and throw it out. It worked well for me. Hope this helps.

Would that be cat proof or dog proof? Cats actually appear scared of them but our dog is interested and I can't tell if she want to play with them or eat them. She is mostly Decker Rat Terrier and I'm putting off a formal introduction until they can peck her good if she gets feisty.

I never had a problem with my dog or cats getting to them. My cats and dogs have been raised around them and love them though. The dog gives them kisses. If you are worried about them getting hurt you could wrap it in 1 inch or 1/2 inch wire to prevent anything from happening. The good thing about the crate is that usually they have a tray in the bottom so you can slide it out when you want to clean it which makes it so much easier.
