If neither of these options work, throw something else out there. Our options are virtually limitless. We can do something pre-scheduled like every 4th Thursday, and whoever wants to join can show up.

Would love to do it! A saturday may work for us.. Weekdays just aren't possible, DH rarely gets home before dark.

Saturdays are best for me also, i live far enough outside of the city that it is hard for me to get home, care for animals and get back downtown in time to do anything.

We are renting an auger today at 2pm but the plan is to put it to use tomorrow. All help is welcome. I'm hoping the posts get put in and all of the fencing goes up. The gate will be a bit later as it has not arrived yet.

Guess we are bidding all the pekin a less than fond farewell tomorrow. DH has arranged a processing party tomorrow so we wont make it

we are averaging around 40lbs a feed daily with the waterfowl & etc, time to some to GO! Have DHs best buddies coming help so it should go very fast.

Processing one bird and moving some tree limbs we had to cut down, then on to the fence.

One H style corner done, the h style gate posts are going in now. Lots more to do though. DH is also starting a brush fire in our burning area. We had to cut down lots of semi dead small trees and bushes to make a path for the fence. Of course the neighbor came over to let me know our fence was too close to the road. It is 30 feet away from the road. But the neighbor thinks it should be 55 feet from the road.

geez! Call the county and ask. That makes me crazy!!! We always go several feet below the ordinance so there is no hassles.

Thanks. I spoke with the city and the water company. If the city expands the road they have the right to buy our land and we would have to redo the fence. BUT they have the right to buy our entire place at anytime really if the government decides it needs it for something, including making a new road or changing the path of the road to avoid the flooding 1/2 a mile from our house. Then the water company has a right away that they have already paid for for 40 ft from the center of the road. So if I put the fence in that part of the yard then I need to be able to pull down 30 feet on either side of the fence to allow them access with very little notice. Basically they suggested 2 16 ft gates in both southern corners for a total of 4 gates and 2 good escape places for the goats since there would be no middle post allowed. We just moved the fence line 30 ft to the north of the road.
If the government decides to buy land then we will redo the fence and whatever else is in their way. But to plan where to put a fence based on what the government may or may not do over the next 50 years, I can't do that. It would take a mastermind to even guess at what will happen over the next 50 years.

That's crazy. I had to re-read your post two times because the gov't stipulations are so complicated. Wow--you just wanted to put up a fence for animals--not make your place Fort Knox!
Sounds like you made the best of a too-complex situation. Kudos to you!
