Try soaking the cookies overnight in milk, might work as overnight oats. If they're still not soft you could simmer them to break into chocolate oatmeal.

Now, there's a difference between rolled steel cut oats and non rolled, there's Aldo par cooked quick and raw. if someone is not specific in the recipe, there's a huge difference
