Ineer breeding ducks?

Does inner breeding matter with ducks, I find it a little weird to breed my hens with there father or brother but ppl are telling me it is okay to breed them with there brother. Is this true?

I think the first and second generation is ok, but after that, you need to introduce new genes.
Brother and sister is ok, and I think parents are ok.
But, once it gets farther down the road not ok.
Some call it line breeding. The problems arise down the road and you can get genetic abnormalities or low hatch rates.
If you already have genetic anomalies (crested for example), might want to reconsider.

I’ve always just breed to parents, never to sister/brother, as I heard that’s not ok...but maybe I heard wrong! I’m stuck in around to see what’s said!

What it boils down to is what your future plans are with your ducks. Are you going to hatch to sell? Are you looking to bring out certain characteristics for show? What is the purpose of your ducks?
