Infected eye? (Picture)

Hello,

Just got some baby chicks yesterday, and I noticed today one has a bit of puss in one eye and the other is a little crusty. See pic.

I had just cleaned a bit of puss out of one eye before taking the picture.

Any suggestions?

This was my guys eye. We used a paper towel soaked in warm water as a compress. When he opened the eye after cleaning, a lot of puss/goop came out. We could see a chunk of something hard on his eye lid. I used a qtip soaked in warm water to loosen it and it came loose. The eye looked good rest of the day. The next morning it was closed again. Before I could clean it (zooming training meeting), he opened it on his own and have had no other issues.

Thanks. Hopefully it clears up. I cleaned it and put in some eye drops.

I also noticed at the base of it's wings on it's back it looked wet and like the feather's were thinning out there. Not sure what that is, maybe just a coincidence.

I always hate putting littles on antibiotics, but a round probably wouldn't hurt. Keep the eye cleaned and an eye on him to be sure he's eating a drinking well.
