Infected toe??

There’s no vet near me and the one I would have to drive to that’s a few hours away will cost over 1000. I just don’t have that kind of money at the moment. It was broken and I have been splinting, cleaning, ointment and wrapping but now it seems to be infected.

I’m not sure what to do being a first time chicken owner. I may be able to get some antibiotics from a friend but i don’t know which is best for something like this. I also don’t know if amputation is best alternative.
I don't think I'd cut into it.

I'd give it a daily soak in chlorhexidine or povidone Iodine. Then a very light layer of triple antibiotic ointment.
Wrap lightly.
Get some antibiotics to see if you can get the infection under control.
Cephalexin would be a good choice, but it can be hard to find. Baytril would probably be another one good to use, you can find that in the link below.

I'm going to tag in @Eggcessive @coach723 to see if they have better suggestions.
The concern is with the toe broken, bone exposed, infection can travel. The lump may be the body trying to wall off the digit, its hard to know.

I agree with you on the Vet, that's crazy expensive. Do your best to treat at home and see how it goes.

My other concern is my husband and I leave for a 8 day work trip on Sunday I can’t cancel and I don’t have anyone who can continue cleaning and wrapping. They’re gonna check on them while I’m gone but he won’t let anyone near him but me and my husband. 🥺 is this type of infection aggressive to the point he won’t make it while I’m gone??

Is Cephalexin the one they use on humans or is it for chickens? I could order the baytril but it most likely won’t be here before we leave..

I have no idea how aggressive the infection could be.

You may just have to leave it unwrapped and see how it goes. 8days is a long time for a wrap to be on, but hopefully others will have a better suggestion.

Cephalexin is used in both humans and animals. Baytril (Enrofloxacin) is animal only.

I am not an expert on broken toes, but I agree with Wyorp Rock to not wrap the toe. Leave it open and apply antiseptic daily. It may be scar tissue or the broken bone forming a callus or hardening where the bine mends. If a vet is possible for amputation or treatment that would be best.
