Infection on the side of the head

I have a buff orpington pullet that is about 5 months old. Within the past week I noticed a small knot on the side of her face behind her eye. It was about the size of a BB. It looked like some sort of bump or pimple. I tried to feel it thinking it would be soft to the touch but it is very hard. I was going to lance it and apply triple antibiotic ointment. Now, about a week later, it's about the size of a green pea and she has drainage in her eye. I didn't cut her, just applied the ointment. It's getting worse. She doesn't have any other signs of anything going on.What should I do? Thanks for any help.

Welcome to BYC. Is the eye drainage clear, and are there any bubbles or foam in the eye? We really like to see pictures to help us see what you are seeing at home. Sometimes pictures can't be posted until you have made a few posts, but post a few more times, and try a picture. Since the bump is hard and growing it could be a tumor, but the eye drainage almost sounds like it could have been a peck wound, sting, or an injury that has gotten infected. Is there a scab on the bump?

Computer froze up earlier. Sorry. Drainage is clear,knot is hard. It was the size of a BB last week. Now the size of a small green pea.I'll try to send pics tomorrow. Looks like a pimple or bumb, but it's hard. No scab. I had a whole page of stuff typed up when the computer froze. I'll be back on here tomorrow with pics hopefully. I have to work the night shift tomorrow night. Thanks a bunch for any help or advice.
