It’s been over a week with coild treatment and the chicken is not improving but no one else is acting sick, tried to isolate for a day so it could eat and drink but cried the whole night so I set it back with the others as hearing it cry for so long was to much. It’s still not looking good, about to leave for the weekend so going to stop coild treatment… I hope I don’t come home to a dead chicken, I don’t want to deworm my flock (money reason and stress) and I’m considering putting the sick one down. I’m going threw so much right now and don’t know what to do. Everyone said chickens were easy and these guys are giving me a run for my money I will be downsizing the flock in the spring so should I just get rid of the sick one now I’m sorry I just don’t know what to do.I'm glad she is healing up and has gone back with her flock.
Do you have photos of the bloody poop you see within the flock and perhaps you can get one of the white worm?
Corid is used to treat Coccidiosis, which can cause blood in the poop. I would treat all of them with the Corid.
Liquid Corid dose is 2tsp or Powdered Corid Dose is 1 1/2tsp per gallon of water given for 5-7 days as the only source of drinking water.
Do not add any extra vitamins/electrolytes that contain B1(Thiamine) to food or water during the course of treatment.
Worms could also cause some blood in the poop, so it may be a good idea to deworm your flock as well. A small white worm sounds like it may be Roundworm or Cecal worms, but without seeing it, it's hard to know. Safeguard (Fenbendazole) or Valbazen (Albendazole) would be good choices to use for deworming.
To treat Roundworms Only - Safeguard dose is 0.23ml per pound of weight given orally once, then repeated in 10 days.
To treat most worms that poultry can have except for Tapeworm - Safeguard dose is 0.23ml per pound of weight given orally once a day for 5 days in a row.
Valbazen dose is 0.08ml per pound of weight given orally once, then repeated in 10 days.
