I have a female homing pigeon which became egg bound about 1 year ago when laying her very first clutch of eggs.
She laid one egg covered in blood and then was having real difficulty passing the second egg, so much so she nearly died, but with treatment she managed to pass it (after 2 days).
After this she has never laid again in all this time. She seems perfectly healthy and happy. She will mate with her partner, build nests, sit in the nest and coo etc.. but never lay an egg. She does not seem to have the 'internal laying' problem which some chickens get.
Have any other people had a similar experience with their pigeons or chickens?
Thanks.
