They don’t get mealworms, I just added them to the list, but definitely will take them off layers, I’ve been thinking about it but it’s a pain buying three or four types of feed. I have a laying flock as well that’s why I get it. But I will get poultry mix or something instead. They don’t really free range but I often let them out to run for a bit when they won’t harm the crops. I also get bags of barley for nothing with I supplement the feed with.Layer meal contains too much calcium for roosters, it might be better to change to an all flock and offer oyster shells on the side for additional calcium, so the laying hens will be able to meet their demand.
If your flock is able to free-range or similar, I would stop the mealworms. It would be much healthier to feed them some of their own hardboiled eggs with shredded carrots and barley. Chickens that are too fat can suffer from (temporary) infertility.
