Infestation of?????***pic added****

Thats what I was going to say, they looked like Cicada Killers to me. VERY big, ominous looking bugs but relatively harmless. Ive been around them all my life and I have never heard of anyone every being stung by one. They do make big holes in the ground to nest. Dont think there is a colony or anything, they seem to make their own individual nest.

I believe you have an Eastern Cicada Killer:

Cicada killing wasps do tend to be larger, but they are also native, common in Oklahoma, beneficial to you, and fairly non-aggressive. I'd keep these guys around myself.

Note, the Eastern is one of the more common cicada killing wasps found. You may have another one belonging to this genus:

The Asian "yak killers" or Asian hornets are an awesome species that I really adore...but I'm glad you don't have them around. XD

EDIT: Oops, apparently you already found out they are 'sand hornets'/cicada killers. Nevermind!

well i am nervous around these things i think i am going to run to the trade days and get my problem fixer upper, a dozen guineas should take care of this quite easily

I love 'em too. XD Cutest little buggy eyes in the world! But, it's also a good thing that they get picked off like so many fish in a tiny barrel by natural predators, as their rate of reproduction is at a level to support that.
