Info please on feather lice

Cleaning my coop today, found feather lice on some of my pigeons. Not a lot some have a few ,some do not. looked it up on the internet. Bought some spray for on the birds, was going to buy sevins garden dust to put on coop floor. Is it safe to use? Any ideas or sugestions I could try that is safe for my birds. Thanks Jim

I've had no problems even useing dust on the birds themselfs....Mites are a pain to get out once you have them...I would dust and spray everyone and everything...and use bleach to clean with...thats what we always did...

Sevin use is fine, but Ivomec is better and safer. Eqvalan is the water soluble version used for horses. 1-3cc gallon for bath water; 1cc to a quart spray bottle. Use a syringe to measure the CCs--available at most feed stores that sell horse supplies (or online supplies). Effective against BOTH lice and mites--spray perches and nest boxes with the spray bottle mixture. Not a danger to squabs or eggs BUT I'd NOT spray them directly. Use the same syringe to treat for worms--2 to 3 drops directly into the mouth of the pigeon. It, too, can be used in the water, 1.5cc to 6cc, for worms. Higher dose is for ascarids or tetrameres. You can use the Ivomec that is NOT water soluble (cattle preparation) for direct application down the throat. These are the recommendations made by the Assn of Pigeon Veterinarians.

you can use adams flea and tick for dogs it comes in a spray bottle alot of the chicken exhibitors use it i have used it on my birds spray one shot under each wing and around the vent area another is bronco horse spray i believe that the name any waay both are natural sprays
