Information on Silkie Roo's?

From my experience...they are very mellow and sweet. My rooster is actually a little too relax, I have two hens that are more in your face kind of chickens. I can pick my rooster up and walk around with him in my arm with no problem.
Hey guys!

How are silkie roo's? Are they just the typical mean rooster or are they calm and gentle some what like the hens?

Thanks! :D

That's awesome to hear. I love roosters, just not their attitude.

Anyone else have experience with Silkie roo's?

It really just depends on the individual bird. Most of mine are very laid back and sweet, but I did re-home one for being testy with me. I now have another young cockerel who seems to think he can bully me. Really?? I just pick him up and carrying him around for awhile, then sit down with him to have a talk. He is changing his mind. You can get nasty roos in any breed, and if they are "man fighters", it is best not to breed them, as they do have the tendency to pass that attitude on. On the other hand, even the meanest Silkie roo hasn't got enough size to back up his threats, it's just more of a PIA than anything! Now with my other breed, with 12lb. roosters, that's another story!

Yeah, you're right. It varies from breed to breed too, right? Like some breeds have a tendency to be more aggressive than others...?
