I'm a first time chicken owner and it seems like there is ALWAYS so much to learn!
I have one rooster (total accident) and 4 hens, 2 of which have started laying recently.
The first hen to lay has brown eggs, which started out small and have increased in size and frequency (every other day and now every day).
The second hen lays beige/green eggs. These were also very small but only increased in size a tiny bit. She was laying an egg every other day the every day and now it's been 3 days.
Should I worry that she's egg bound? I don't even know for sure which hen it is since they do not yet have an egg laying routine.
Any advice on how to go about determining if one of them is having trouble pushing an egg out? They don't like being handled much but are fine once I can get them into my arms to hold them. Additionally the rooster is a Silkie and can be aggressive if he thinks I'm threatening his flock, which he thinks if I try to pick any of them up.
