She is beautiful and listens very well. It sounds like he didn't get exactly what he wanted out of her (a lap dog maybe?) and threw a fit.

That dog reminds me of the ones trained for Schutzhund.... and by looking at the site, sure seems that these dogs are imported and trained from lines used for that kind of job....

But anyways.

I question the buyer on this one. Not all animals match in all situations... and for this kind of "investment" for a "protection dog" requires you to match and communicate with the animal. It's not like the dog can speak human.

That dog is pretty intense. Not suitiable for "any old family" as a pet. Lots of daily work would be required to keep her mentally fit to be around.

They are both idiots, buyer and seller.

Who purchases a dog for $7500 and has it shipped clear across the country without ever meeting the animal or seeing if it suitable. This is obviously a high energy animal used to working. I suspect is sat in a kennel in a NY apartment for 10 hours a day, was let out, and expected (by the owners) to play like a little puppy. It was probably bored out of its mind and acting out. Who also ships a dog across country again, at great expense, without making sure someone is on the other side?

As for the seller, who trains and works with a dog like that and then sells it to any blowhard with the money? You can almost guess the way the buyer acted over the phone...something like "I need the best guard dog, on with great training. I want a shutzhund because that is what I'm experienced with. Get me the best, money is no object". So the seller sells the dog, with no meeting, no follow-up and no training with the owner or adjustment period. And then tries to wait the buyer out on the return.

Both need to be slapped around and no biscuit!

As a friend recently posted on FB, some people really need a high five...in the head...with a chair.

AND....

SOME PEOPLE SHOULD BE PROHIBITED FROM OWNING A GERMAN SHEPHERD. They require alot of interaction in many forms from their owners, but they give so much more in return.

I've had a German Shephard out of show lines and she was bright and very intelligent. More laid back when she got a bit older. Been around with collies so that was a huge factor on raising them and training them just like the Collies. One thing that her breeder failed to mention, they like to jump four foot fences, so we had to get a six foot tall fence run for her after she got out numberous times. She loves to play hard but fail at doing anything once she got out of the dog paddock pasture, jumped the fence and settled to snooze the day away at the back door. Didn't faze her one bit to chase anything around the yard LOL! She was a good dog but had to give her up while I was going to college full time and more hours away from home, she lacked the attention I could give her and it was not fair to her, nor to me. Missed that dog!

Yeah, same here. I know a shepherd is too much dog for me...
Thats why i have a goldendoodle...

Oh Jax and Kane have nearly lost their minds recently over squirrels. We have several squirrels visiting the yard many times daily to snitch pecans out of our large pecan tree. Jax and Kane just can't cope with something or someone coming into THEIR yard to take anything.

The biggest issue we are having right now is training them to understand that even though Bug (our newest cat) lives outside, he is still part of the family and not to be messed with. They love their inside kitties but haven't grasped the concept of an outside kitty yet. I can't count the number of times Jax has received a nasty slap across the nose with some kitty "stickers" but sooner or later he'll learn.

Yeah, same here. I know a shepherd is too much dog for me...
Thats why i have a goldendoodle...

I know, some days, I'm ready to have a smart dog. Then I think "Errrmmmm, no, because I have to actually stay smarter than the dog."

Granted, they'd sooner lick a burglar than do anything else. But I don't have the time or energy to deal with more brains than that from a dog.

So I don't have a smart dog.
