I've been looking all morning and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I've even searched BYC.

1) What is the injectable dosage for standard sized chickens with 1% ivermectin?

2) Can ivermectin be used on ducks? What is the injectable dosage of 1% ivermectin?

3) Can ivermectin be used on geese? What is the injectable dosage or 1% ivermectin?

Also, I am going to give some ACV to my chickens. My ducks and chickens share the same pen. Will Apple Cider Vinegar harm the ducks? How about the geese? And will Apple Cider Vinegar be fine for the trio of coturnix quail?

Thanks

Well, the standard dosage instructions for 1% Ivermectin injectable is 1ml per 50kg bodyweight. But I think that tends to mean cows and sheep and the like. If using the same ratio for chickens, the dose would be something like 0.05ml. I don't know how you would measure that out. When I treated my chickens with Ivermectin I used the topical stuff and put a drop on the skin on the back of their necks. Much easier than injecting...

I have used DE and also use AVC daily in my chickens and ducks water but now I have found a round worm in one of the chickens poo, am medicating with wazine today, my question is if this doesn't clear up the round worms should I go to Ivermectin, I know we have to wait 2 weeks before eating eggs with the wazine but what about the Ivermectin how long do we have to wait, Also does anyone know of a better wormer thats natural so we don't have to use chemicals and can the chickens eat these eggs that we can't during the 2 week. I have used AVC in my ducks and chickens water for as long as I had them and never had a problem with it hurting them ,is actually suppose to be healthy for them

When I used topical Ivermectin on my hens the vets instructions were once a week for four weeks in a row, and the eggs shouldn't be eaten until another four weeks after the last treatment. So all in the eggs couldn't be eaten for eight weeks. I asked if it would be okay to feed the eggs to our dogs instead, and was told that Ivermectin can kill some breeds of dogs if they eat it. Mostly collies and collie types, but some other breeds too.

As far as I know, Ivermectin is for mites and lice. The packaging with my bottle doesn't say anything about using it for worms. I don't think it's a wormer!

For worms I use pellets called Verm-X which are natural and there is no egg withdrawal period. Hope that helps you...

Ivermectin will kill round worms. And just about everything else. I'm not sure if it's been tested on poultry lice, but I bet it will kill them too. It will also kill gapeworms, etc. etc.

And about .05mL-.1mL sounds good. You can buy very small syringes that are only one mL each, that will show tenths of a mL, and just try with that. Ivermectin is generally very safe, so I wouldn't worry about it at all. If it were me, I'd just go with .1mL and call it a day.

edit: best part of injection - holding time 21 days (since you only treat once), and I would personally eat the eggs, but not sell them. It's going to be such a tiny amount of active drug left by the time it reaches the eggs.

Whoops! Apologies for the dodgy info. I stand corrected. Ivermectin will indeed deal with just about every type of worm. Apart from tapeworms. Do chickens even get tapeworms? I also didn't know you could get such small syringes. That's two things I've learned today. I didn't know I was worming my chooks as well as delousing them. LOL! Two birds with one stone...

I doubt the topical will be very effective against worms, I was referring to the injection. Same drug, different way in
