I'm pretty new here. We got our baby chicks last Thursday and they've been doing great until today. I was changing out the water and I told my 4yr old to not pick them up without me and she did it anyway and she dropped one. When I went back (after just a few minutes) the chick was on her back and they other chicks were pecking her. Anyway I took her out and put her in another box where she seemed to be doing better, so I put her back with the other chicks. Now her skin looks bruised, she will walk but not very willingly. If it becomes necessary how do we humanely let her go? This breaks my heart as I'm already attached.

Hi and

,
I am so sorry for your loss. These things happen. Just tell your child these things happen.
Make sure she doesn't feel guilty about it and show her another chick she can raise for
her "special" pet. or maybe something else special she can do for the chicks.
Best,
Karen
