Injured baby

Hello. I’ve never owned a chicken in my life and today I rescued a baby that had just hatched from others that were pecking at it. I work at an exotic animal reserve and we have silkies. Our owner decided to breed them. There were 6 babies hatched last week and one today. The one today was being pecked at and now has a big wound on the side of its head. I’m worried about the little thing. I have a heat lamp, food and water for it but it cries the whole time it’s awake and keeps falling asleep A LOT almost like it’s narcoleptic. Is this normal? I just want to do anything to make sure this baby survives.

If you have any antibacterial cream (“as long as the pain reliever in the ointment is NOT a “caine” type (like benzocaine or lidocaine), it is okay for use in chickens.”) then I recommend you put some on that wound and monitor closely. If the other chicks keep pecking at it, separate the injured one.

The injured one is separated. The adult females (who are at where I work) would not stop pecking at it so we separated them and I took it home to look after it. Just want to make sure I’m doing everything right for it I appreciate your advise!!
