She’s a buff Orpington we found her beak like this. We don’t know what happened. Any advice on this would be great. Sorry about the double pictures it won’t let me fix it
It almost looks as if the upper beak is becoming necrotic. It may eventually fall off. Is she able to eat. If the upper beak does fall off, it may or may not regrow. If she has problems try feeding her moistened feed in a deep dish. Hopefully this will enable her to eat.
Yes, chickens can survive with no beak. I have a 4 year old Golden Comet hen who has no top beak and a short, forked, lower beak. She is able to eat chicken feed (pellets and crumbles), whole corn, bugs, grass, and other scraps we feed her. Your hen should be just fine. Good luck with her, and I hope that she will be alright!!
