I have a Jersey Giant chick. I think it got in a fight with the other chick in its cage. I think it has/had "crook neck." You could tell it got hit in the head. It started tucking its head under its stomach and shaking its head like it was having a seizure. I separated the chick; it acted like that for about a week. Here in the last four or five days, it has stopped having the seizures. The whole time it has been eating and drinking like normal. It still can't straighten its head completely, its more postured like beak to chest (chin to chest). I don't want to get rid of it if I don't have to. I like to give all animals a chance. I'm fairly sure I won't breed it. Please leave any comment or insight, I will appreciate any help.

Are you feeding medicated starter? I had a problem with one chick once that had a crookneck problem, though it was more of a stargazer (flipping his head backward all the time rather than down to his chest) and it turned out to be a sensitivity to the amprolium in the medicated feed. As soon as I switched him to a non-medicated mash and gave him some vitamin drops in his water, he stopped stargazing in a matter of days. He was fine after that! Could you be having a similar problem?

We don't use any medicated food. We gave him some of the drops in his water. when he stopped seizing, we just gave him regular water. Like I said, he's just beak to chest now, still eating and drinking fine. The only other thing, is I think he is growing slower than the rest. I personally think he is as good as he will get. I think his neck might be permantly hurt though. Thanks for the input!
