One of my silkie bantams got brutally pulled out of the coop I was rebuilding last week by my husky. I honestly thought she was dead but she wasn't. I cleaned out her wounds with peroxide and put neosporin on them. She had her ride side and thigh completely ripped up and a punture wound through her wing into her side. I honestly thought she would die overnight but she didn't. I had her in the garage and unfortunately the flies didn't stay away and she became infested with maggots. LISTEN when I say to give your chick a bath to get them out. I spent 3 hours bathing her in a bucket and using a hose to wash them out. I used tweezers to pull some out and after I was done, I put her in my basement. Every day I apply neosporin to her and I gave her penicillin for 5 days and she is on the way to a full recovery.

Wound care:
-keep indoors!
-wash out with peroxide and saline initially
-apply neosporin 2 times daily
-give penicillin shots 1-2 times daily for 4 to 5 days (1/4-1/2 cc per day)
-if the wounds get infested with maggots, BATHE your chick in warm water and get them out, you may find a few in the coming days but just pull those off with tweezers

Sounds like you're a great chicken owner!! It bothers me when people just give up and let them die :( I'm glad she's getting better!
