Injured chicken

I have an injured hen here. She stayed in the nesting box all day, and when I checked there were no eggs under her. I looked up what that might mean and decided to take a look. My daughter says she saw the rooster attack her with his claws and she says he scratched her head. Here are pictures.when we went out all the chickens were roosting and this one was not. She was facing a corner on the floor of the coop. She is lethargic and zoned out. I was able to get her to drink, and she drank for a while. I have her separated right now. I cleaned the wound and put an antibiotic on it. Am I missing anything? Why would he do this? He’s a sweet roo. They are adopted, so not sure of ages but at least 4 years old. I’ll post more pics when it gets light

I would give her some time alone. You could try giving her some scrambled eggs and electrolyte water to boost her energy. As for why the rooster would have done it, he's a chicken. No matter how sweet or nice he is, he's still subject to normal animal behaviour. I would keep an eye on him around the others and when you put your injured hen back into the flock I'd keep a special eye on her.
