Neighbors dogs came onto my property, up on the back porch and grabbed one of my girls. We were on them immediately but they tore the skin under her wing on the side of the breast (about a 1'' diameter). No blood or bruising. How do I treat this? Ellen

wash out the wound with soapy water or watered down betadine or peroxide making sure to rinse well then dry her off and apply either betadine again watered down some or neosporin with out pain relief. She should heal fine. Now doing something about those dogs should be next. sorry for my bad manners,

Thanx Miss Lydia. I irragated Prudies wound with anti-bacterial hand soap in warm water, dried, then liberlly applied petrolium-based triple anti-biotic ointment. She squatted by the outside of coup and I sat nearby reading After about 1 hour she got up and walked slowly into the coup, got a drink and squated again. Repeated this a couple of times before venturing outside to scratch and peck. She had no trouble climbing to the roost, but squatted in the bedding instead of hopping upon the roosting bar. I guess only time will tell.

Dog owners are very apologetic and felt awful. I asked them to not get their feelings hurt if I run their dogs off with sticks and rocks from now on. They're perfectly agreeable to this.
