injured chinese gosling

Thanks for the update. I was guessing from the photos, but it sure can be hard to tell with geese for a while until they become mature and either start laying eggs or showing aggressive male behavior. Unless you vent sex them, it's a wait-and-see kinda thing!

Have fun with your new collection of goslings and ducklings.

Well I got five ducklings and their mom today, they are suppossed to be Swedish but I'm thinking they have some mallard or maybe rouen in them. Ill post pics later of all my ducklings and goslings once I go outside to take pictures of them..

I also have had "pure bred" ducklings start looking suspiciously like there was a mallard in their recent family history. You can never know for certain till they get their adult plumage. I have a little "khaki Campbell" duck that came from very purebred-looking parents, but she is very mallardy! Cute as can be and a great layer. I don't care about her "shady" family tree.

Besides, unless you have Muscovies or wild species types, all of our domestic ducks are directly descended from mallards. They just have been carefully bred to select for certain traits that produced unique breeds. But they're still "mallards."
