I came home to find my older two buff Orpington‘s with small cuts to their combs. I’m afraid something spooked them, last time they had injuries like this is when a hawk had them cornered in the back of their pen and I think they were trying to peck their way out of the hardware cloth. Anybody else seen this type of injury before?

I would agree that something sharp such as running into hardward cloth or even a sharp edge on a feeder or waterer might be a problem. I would apply some betadine or dab a little BluKote or plain Neosporin onto the wounds.
