Hello. Would love advice. One of our ducks was injured by prey yesterday. Two puncture wounds that seem under control. And a next I injury. Duck can not hold her neck up. A few times today she could sit up and get her neck up temporarily but then it flops over and she can't function. Is this fixable?
She is hardly eating. Has been laying down most of the day. She just can't keep her head up. She has had a little water and peas throughout the day. But mostly laying down. Any advice would be great. We just don't know if the neck is fixable.

I’m so sorry to hear about your duck. Let me tag some duck people to help. @Jenbirdee @ruthhope

Although the injury happened yesterday, I would continue to treat her for shock by giving her electrolytes and a bit of sugar mixed into some water.

Also, welcome to the site, sorry about the circumstances.

She is sitting up not. If she holds herself just so she can sit up like this. She is moving her neck around but it does flop over if she doesn't keep it back enough. She has her neck dropped and back. She is drinking and has had a few peas here and there. Won't eat her duck food. She is inside with us in a safe space. She has been resting. I just gave her a little bit of sugar water as someone suggested.
I am hoping there is hope for this sweet girl.

I know you aren’t worried about the puncture wounds, but where are they located on her? Have you inspected her neck carefully for wounds or anything that feels out of place?

Drinking is a good sign, she may not come around to eating for a few days, that can be normal with an injury. As long as she keeps trying, I wouldn’t give up on her. Being only a day out from her neck injury, she may improve more than we can imagine, it may just take a while. Hopefully a duck person can chime in with some helpful advice on supplements to support nerve function for ducks.

Hello yes always treat for shock first with the electrolyte water and a warm dark place ,quiet , away from people and other pets, and search carefully for injuries as. @alinas2010 said
For puncture ones antibiotics are recommended
Has she eaten anything yet? Try giving her a little mash
You can flush out any wounds with a chlorhexidine solution or a povodine iodine solution or even a saline solution and then use an antibacterial ointment such as a Neosporin, but without the pain relief. You want to keep them moist so they don’t close up with any infection inside ,Let them heal from the inside to the outside.
Is there any possibility of taking her to a vet?

Thank you for this information. It is very helpful. She is eating a little now. Small amount but something. She is a quiet dark space and is sitting upright. Just had her head back and is careful about her movements because her head will fall forward. It is definitely lower and back then normal but she can move it and bend it just fine.
I think we were trying to figure out if a neck injury like this is something she can recover from. The vet wants hundreds just to see her.

Yes, vets can be very expensive. A lot of us can't afford them so we learn how to treat at home.

Do you have access to electrolyte solution? Sugar water is alright, but she will need the extra.

Like @Jenbirdee said, make a mash with her food, mixing it with water until you get a loose paste.

Give her time for the neck. Perhaps help support it during the day with an inflatable or stuffed ring around it, removing it at night so she can sleep better.

Right now, what she needs most is a stress-free and quiet environment to help her recover.

Where are you located, if you don't mind my asking?

Thank you!
Yes, I will give her electrolytes.

We are in North Carolina.

Thankfully she is inside our house and has a small bathroom to herself. We continue to check on her and give her food and water. She isn't able to bend down without her head getting stuck so she eats and drinks out of a small bowl when we give it to her.

Thank you!
