injured duck help!

how is warrior doing? have had my share of wounded animals(especially ducks)(chickens) believe it or not antibiotic ointment works pretty good, its goopy and you can slather it on and around the wound. I have had good success with it. (especially in the middle of the night after the mink attack and I had nothing else)--don't be afraid of getting in there and looking at the wound. ---good luck!--d.

My overly cautious parents brought Spotty to the vet again while I was at work. Apparently the wound was originally several inches deep but seems to have missed any major organs. Spotty is doing much better and has started eating with the help of something similar to the NutriDrench mentioned above ("rooster booster" it was called). Thanks for the tips everyone! Mary has been more calm in her visits with Spotty as well. Mary also started hiding her eggs in some bushes while Spotty has been living inside. I don't know if this is coincidence or not, but they usually lay their eggs in their house. In any event all seems to be going well and I wanted to thank everyone for all the help!
So glad to here Spotty is doing so well, and that your parents are so caring. Mary may not feel safe in her house by herself. Hopefully when Spotty gets well enough to move back outside things will get back to normal.

If you can get any easily, I recommend colloidal silver applied directly on the wound to prevent infection.

Spotty is doing really well, she is still living in our bathroom but I think she will survive. Thanks again!!

Spotty is on the left and Mary is on the right. Taken during a visit inside yesterday.

What pretty girls. Spotty looks great and Mary is good company for her I'm sure.
