Hi all. New to this forum. I am pretty upset, so please no rude comments.

I have 4, 4 week old pekin ducks, thought they were ready to go out with our adult ducks and chickens. An hour after putting them out, 3 out of three four were in the pond not able to get out and alot if their back feathers and most of their newly grown wing feathers TORN out. One is still shaking pretty bad (I'm assuming due to being cold, but maybe shes scared too..?..) I'm holding her on my lap, I feel terrible

My question is: will their feathers grow back? Its practically meat, no feathers

Thanks

There was one day my dog got a hold of my pekin drake and ripped out a lot of his neck feathers, his grew back. I’m sure someone on here knows better than I do, but just sharing my situation. My duck shook pretty bad after that incident, but he was just in shock. Just keep them warm and keep and eye on them to make sure they aren’t injured any worse than first seen.

Thank you for your input. Hope she gets better. I feel so bad, I rushed the process.
I comepletely understand! My incident happened because I left my dog out all day with my duck and trusted her. At the time, she hadnt been with him very long and she bit him out of curiousity. He recovered the next day though, his feathers grew back and now he is healthy as can be. I hope your baby recovers nicely!
