Injured Goose

Possibly twisted it running away from a fight or during mating.
Once you cleaned the area did you notice any bumblefoot?
Oh thank you so much for replying! :yesss:
We’re unsure of bumblefoot.
He told me that the swelling had gone down some. She seemed to be walking on it easier when I looked in on her at noon. He said she was walking on it even easier by evening when they went to bed. He did however pick her up and take her to wash her foot before she went into the goose shack for the night. He noticed that the dark coloring is just her feet, not caked mud. It’s like her beak. The other two geese beak and feet are indeed orange. Something might have happened to them in their youth maybe? Could be why they’re rescues?
We’re still in deep research mode now as to what kind of bird she and the other two are now. Who knew there were so many others with the exact same colorings? :barnie
He’s at work now and I’m sure he’ll read the post at his first chance. Will look into your humble foot suggestion. Thank you for being considerate enough to answer. :)

Toulouse goslings start out with black-pigmented beaks and feet. It looks like your girl simply has not lost all of her 'baby' pigment. :) Or she could possibly be mixed with another breed - Africans are supposed to have black beaks.

Hope your goose is feeling better! If it’s a non puncture injury (sudden, warm to the touch, swelling) my Vet has recommended crushing up a few arnica pellets, dissolving in water and administering orally to help with the swelling. Mind you this was for a duck, but it had a similar sounding symptoms and the arnica worked.

My gander has be on rest for going on 3 weeks he hurt his ankle fighting with my drake. He’s in a small area with his mate with small kiddy pool. Trying to keep him from over doing and resting more. He is finally walking better today so maybe another week.

miss Lydia did you give anything for the pain. I don't know if you remember my gander Beaver last summer he acted like he had a stroke . well he didn't fully recover he has a weak leg and wing . well one of the roosters attached him and in trying to get away he hurt the other leg is there any thing I can do for the pain. I started him on the b complex is there anything else. that rooster is living on borrowed time GRR.

Poor fellow I am sorry he is injured. I haven’t used any pain meds with Sam just letting him chill out in a smaller part of their property. He’s still limping around but I was most worried if he was pain free he would probably injure himself worse he’s pretty nutty right now with breeding season going on. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/ibuprofen-dose-for-ducks.1308956/#post-21335983. Info though. Hope your gander starts feeling better.
