Injured hen-not sure if she is drinking water-HELP!!

My little hen who got bitten by my dog yesterday is ok-but I'm not sure she is drinking water. How do you give a chicken water with a dropper or straw-sorry, this is my first time. Is there a way to open their beak?

It's easier than that. Set her on your lap or hold her under one arm. Drizzle a few drops of water on the top of her beak, avoiding her nares. her sipping reflex will kick in and she will drink for you. This is an opportunity to offer vitamins in water too, or olive oil for calories or even water yogurt. It can get messy so have a towel on your lap and/or available on your shoulder.

GOOD NEWS! She is eating. We gave her cracked corn and some grapes and she ate a fair amount. She seems to be resting peacefully. How long should we keep her up? I am thinking another day at least...but not sure.
