Injured hen - skin torn from neck!

Long story short - my dogs got into the chicken field this morning while I was away from home and no one else was watching. Itis now 6 hours or so since the attack (I came home and found 2 dead chickens initially - inspected the rest and thought they were OK) and decided to check on them again after lunch - I just found a hen roosting on a high pole in the coop - my daughter yelled that there were ants on her... There are! She has a large wound on her neck - the dogs tore the feathers off leaving raw flesh. Is there something I can put on the wound to ease her pain? Please let me know what I should do! Thank you!!

Because she has an open would you should separate her from the other chickens or they could start pecking her wound. Putting her in a box or crate away from the ants would also help her heal. Clean her wound with mild soap and water. I suppose if you had borax, you could add a little because ants hate that. After cleaning, I usually use neosporin ointment or the generic equivalent on wounds. There is something call Swat that keeps flies off of wounds, but I am not certain it works against ants.
