Well, as we are always rescuing something over here at least a few times a month, the newest addition was a female House Sparrow that went down during a monsoon storm, lost all of it's tail feathers and got an ouch on it's wing. We have been caring for it for the last week and a half letting her feathers grow back in and her wing heal. She was doing great. We weren't holding her or messing with her much as we planned on releasing her as soon as she was good to go. The night before I planned on releasing her(day before yesterday) I went to give her fresh water and food and she flew out of her container and directly into my bedroom ceiling fan. Ugh.... Of all the things and of all the times. I've been doing research for the last day online, and can't find anything relevant, so I decided to come here, where I always come for my other birds.
The poor little thing completely broke her right leg and it is now useless, and hangs as though it is no longer attached to the body. I carefully felt and tried to assess where the break is, hoping I could splint it and simply give her antibiotics and monitor everything. But it seems to have either broken above the femur where the leg attaches in the body or just completely come out of the socket? I don't know. But I cannot splint it. I currently have her bad leg wrapped naturally against her body so it doesn't move around and cause her more pain. Does anyone else have experience with this? I have a lot of experience with chickens, ducks, and quail, but no experience with house sparrows. I do not want to put her down if it can be avoided, but I also cannot take her to the vet. I typically take care of everything here on the farm, and have antibiotics as well. I've just never seen a break this high, and with her being so tiny, I'm not sure what to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. She is still eating and pooping, she can't get around so well, but she keeps ending up in the water dish, then getting back out and being soaked, hopefully she's drinking something while she's in there. Thank you in advance for any assistance!

I can really help you there I found a house sparrow Male that had a broken leg from a cow and since the bones are hollow I wasn’t able to but he did end up dying from internal injuries before I was able to do anything... it is possible but the leg might also die off it there’s not enough blood supply. You bird might end up with one leg and if the happens will be a permanent house bird... they can land very well with one leg... especially at first
