I noticed in the past few days that my 12 week old silkie is favoring one leg. I picked em up and one leg is quite swollen in the knee area. He sits a lot to rest and you can tell he is favoring this leg. I am thinking maybe he landed hard in the box when I was transferring them into a tub to give them some RR in the grass. Another possibility is the slick floor I have in the coop maybe the shavings cleared out and he slipped. IDK whatever happened I am out of feed and wondering if he should be on medicated or should I get non- medicated.
Next if I wanted to give him some pain killer, what do I use and how much and how do I give it to him?

I don't know about pain meds, but I do know the medicated feed is specific to cocci, so that's not going to help any with an injury.

Great thanks so much I was hanging out here till I got an answer. I will go get the non medicated.

You could try an epsom salt soak, helps reduce swelling. Soak for 15-20 mins. As for medicated or non-medicated feed,it is a personal choice. Medicated feed does not prevent cocci. There is a small amount of amprol in medicated feed, for light to moderate exposure(so the bag claims)but not enough to prevent deaths if they come down with it.
