Injured Rooster/Lemon Cuckoo Orpington

My Roo is actually a little better, noticed he was able to sit up a little better over the weekend....he couldn't do that last week. Today, when I got home from work, he was standing!!! He walked a little, still a little unsteady. So, my plan is to keep him segregated from the others for several more days and continue with his current care regime. One of his favorite hens insisted on going in the pen with him and I think that has his outlook on life looking just a little better!!!

He is walking now, still limping and occassionally gets off balance but much better. He can eat while standing now which is a huge improvement. I want him to have a little more strength before I put him back with the others and I am not sure he is going to be able to get on and off the roost yet............so trying to be patient about putting him back in the general population, although you can see in his eyes that he wants out badly.

Thank you, he is really doing good now almost 100%. He can jump off the roost without any problems and jump off the porch and keep going without difficulty...just every once in a while you notice he gets a little off balance. I will confess that I struggled for over a week with wondering if I was doing the right thing, he was so pitiful and I really did not see a significant change in his condition for a week and a half. I will have to remember that for future reference.
