Injured/Sick Goose?????

A goose has been hanging out in the pond all day today, it's not bothering my bubbas ( ducks) so I'm not concerned about that but I'm not sure if it's injured or sick . We have geese that have been in our pond before but normally it's a pair & they don't stay long but this goose has been @ the pond since this morning most of the time it's in the pond but of course when I went to take a pic of it, it was out of the pond.!!! It seems to be limping a little bit. Does anybody have any idea what's wrong with it??? Injured, sick, got into a fight with another goose???

Canada goose and maybe a young gander that doesn’t have a mate. Can you get a closer pic if I enlarge it gets distorted. He she looks to be in good weight but that’s even hard to tell by a picture. No telling what may have happened to make it limp may have gotten in a fight it’s that time of year or even gotten bitten by a snapping turtle. Or sprained it some how. Might just needs some time to heal.

There isn't a spring goose season in your state, so if it was a gunshot wound it would likely be old and maybe not fatal. Maybe his partner got got and he's going stag this season.

Cornell is a great site to learn about wild birds.
Possibilities are endless, but it's a wild animal and should really just be left for nature to sort out. If he makes it, that's more strong genes in the pool and if not, well, coyotes need to eat too.

Yes, it looks healthy, I just tried to get a closer pic of it & it walked ( slowly) to my neighbors yard!!! Maybe it was just bored or just need some alone time!!!! Ok, I have another question when I went to get another pic of the goose I noticed that 1 of my female was walking very slow & then she would stop & she was acting like she was trying to poop or lay an egg & the only thing that came out was slimy, clear fluid, also her stomach is touching the ground. I picked her up and felt her stomach but didn't feel anything. Is she egg bound??? I've been getting 3 eggs a day ( I have 3 females ) so I assumed each female was laying an egg. Okay, just went to check on Olivia & the goose is back!!!! It's laying at the edge of the pond, I have no idea what it's doing!!!! So, Olivia is laying in the yard watching the other ducks walk around????

Laying as in passing an egg or laying as in resting? Or both? I'm far less concerned about the wild goose than I am Olivia. Maybe you should start a new post in the Injuries and Cures forum?

Stomach low to the ground usually just means they are laying.. can you put her where you can give her some calcium have you gave any? If she needs to lay an egg giving her some calcium can help her pass it.

Yup, if she waddles like shes got a load in her pants, her butt is dragging the ground and then suddenly plops down and lays there she might be egg bound at bit. I just had 2 of my girls do that tonight. Calcium Gluconate liquid from Tractor Supply 1ml
