Ok - so I asked on this forum if it was ok to dump pellet stove ashes in the run for dust bathing... Answer yes. Some said to mix some sand or peat moss in it. I have neither. But I cleaned out my stove this AM and took it out and dumped an Ash bucket full of ashes on top of the straw that's in the run. I dumped some wet but not frozen potting soil on top of it and told the girls to mix it together for me. That's 3 chickens and a duck. Not a big ol flock. I came home tonight and there is not a sign of ashes or potting soil there. What the heck?? Did they eat it??? Where did it go? I kicked the straw around and found nothing. Nothing - nada... no ashes... no soil.... where did it go? Inquiring Minds Want to Know...
