Insects Around The Eye Advice Appreciated

My young 3 month old Pekin Bantam has suddenly attracted some caviar looking black insects. I tried to wipe them off with a cotton bud but not much came off.

Does anyone know what they are and how to treat them?

Those are stick tight fleas. You are in Australia, right? Stick tight fleas may be smothered with vaseline petroleum jelly. Here is some reading with a picture:

Yes I am in Australia (South Coast WA) I rang the local stock food supplies who deal with poultry supplies and they said the same thing as you have said. They also a lot of local chicken owners are suffering at the moment with similar problems due to the humid weather we have been having. I did not think the shop would be open today and I was a little concerned. I should have started there.
