Well I have had the week from a very hot spot! (H E L L )

When I got back from Cuba in Dec I went to the doc with what I thought was a UTI.. he did a dip and said no but will send the sample off.. while I was waiting I had a killer pain in my right side that sent me to hospital.. this was Dec 11... the ER doc said It sounded like the infection had moved to my kidneys.. Treated me with a NSAID and sent me home and I was fine..

a few weeks later the pain came back so back to my PCP I went and they started running tests ultrasounds blood work parasites you name it... it all came back clean

this past weekend I spend 21 hours in hospital with KIDNEY STONES

I have never been in so much pain in all my life so now surgery is booked for Feb 24 but I dont know if I can handle the feeling of needing to pee all the flippin time... the intense pain like you have been holding it for hours I have had this feeling since December and I am mentally exhausted from it! I just wish it would stop... until my surgery I have an oral NSAID to take but it just takes the edge off.

After this I dont think I will ever take for granted the feeling of an empty bladder....

I just needed to vent.. its that or cry

lets just say I have had 3 children and that was a cake walk!

I've been plagued by stones most of my adult life so I know how you feel. Luckily, mine never got to the point of needing surgery. I am shocked and amazed that at no time did anyone in the medical field suggest an x-ray to see what was going on. Poor you!

Best of luck to you.

PS - drink lots of water and cranberry juice! It really helps.

I am so sorry, I feel your pain. I had one Nov 27th, funny we remember the dates like it was a birth or something. The pain of a kidney stone is soooo ungodly. Wish you a speedy recovery .

Wow your stones must be big! My DD had them about 2 years ago. She said she tought she was dying. She was in so much pain she broke the gurney at the hospital, and the heater vent on my car going to the hospital. I cant believe they didnt give you something stronger for the pain. They gave her dilaudid at the hospital and precocet to use til the stones passed which took about 2 weeks. If you have to have surgery then you must have big stones.
