I have lived in areas where chickens were not allowed. Some day you will live in a place where you can have them. I will tell you that MOST of my enjoyment of my birds comes from sitting outside watching them peck around looking for seeds and bugs, eating grass, etc.
IF you do end up doing a total indoor living area, I would make it as natural as possible...sand on the floor, bringing in greens to eat, etc. Your window will help, because sunlight is important. Is there any way that another window could be added? You'd have to make sure that your building has LOTS of ventilation. And having the space you mentioned will help a lot.

Okay...I know you're being a smarty pants, but this is actually a good idea. Some folks grow grass (yard grass..not illegal stuff...lol) in pots for their indoor cats. That would actually be pretty cool. But fresh greens (cabbage, fresh lawn clippings, etc.) would work too.

My point about the chickens being illegal is that you may have them for quite some time and get very attached to them only to have a neighbor report you and have to give them up. Just something to consider.
Continue the aiding and abetting.............

Your parents are going to let you keep illegal chickens? Who is going to pay the fines if you get caught? I personally wouldn't get chickens that have to be kept in a shed all the time. I would wait until you are in an area where you can have them.

I still say peace, love, doritos and chickens.....remember, remember the 5th of november.....

I have never heard of anyone being fined for keeping chickens in a town. They will make you remove them but never heard of a fine. I am not saying it doesnt happen, but not to my knowledge.
