My pain management doc told me that some nights it took 6 melatonin tablets to help him park the train and sleep. He didn't say what strength of tablets. I have used as much as 60mgs to put me out and there was still not a groggy doppy feeling the next day. When my body stopped making its own melatonin I started compensating. It's true some nights nothing works. Usually because something is on my mind that I can't just turn loose for a night's sleep.

I've already slept for a couple of hours but had to get up for all the meds I normally can take at 10pm. Didn't take them then because I missed meds at 2pm and took them at 6pm. It's a really merry go round so days. If I don't get what I'm prescribed 3 times a day my sciatica is not easy to live with. At least I got a clearance today that the doc that works on hips will proceed with deep injections into the hip joints. The last shots worked for over a year. When this round stops I should have lost enough weight to have a set of new ones installed.

Can't find a single soul to chat with so I'm going back to bed and hope for the best.
I'm just up typing for a few more hours. I slept 5 hours Tuesday night, then took a "nap" around noon and didn't wake up until 7 p.m., then went back to bed at midnight and slept 8 more hours last night. I must've been catching something I figured as that's the most I've slept in ages!

I was still awake but I was watching my show to try and fall back asleep.
As far as missing meds I know all about that. I’m terrible at remembering my night time meds.
Also, I had sciatica when I was pregnant with my youngest and it was SO painful. I’m sorry you have to deal with that.

If I take my meds on schedule 3 times a day the sciatica is not so bad. I still have to be careful lifting an bending but I can function as long as my back doesn't go out which is has about 4 times over the last few decades. I had to get up and take the last dose of the day meds last night and when I laid back down I took on last of the new melatonin tablets that are sublingual and I went right back to sleep and slept until after 6 this morning. Over all it was a win.

I'm taking my prescribed pain med cocktail along with a few supplements my docs have recommended soon and hoping for the best. I'm sleepy now but that doesn't always mean I will go to sleep and keep it going until daylight.
