Time to invest in a sleep mask for the next overnight visit.
I tried that years ago, also earplugs, but…I need to relax to sleep, and can’t if something is either on my head or in my ears, then that keeps me awake

I also found out that you can go without 2 weeks of sleep, after 2 major operations I didn’t sleep at all for 2 weeks, I don’t tolerate most pain medication, what I can take didn’t put a big dent into the pain, so I was up day and night, thank God for Netflix whatever , but it isn’t good , I couldn’t sleep for at least a combined 5 weeks the last 2 years ( 2 operations and one dental splint which also kept me up 1 week til I got used to it) it caused brain fog, now I mix up things like opening the wrong cabinet door or mixing up appointments, stuff which never happened to me before, or it is just the process of getting older

I did finally sleep a lot after I got home (1 weeks hospital, 4 weeks rehabilitation) for a week, I got up, ate breakfast, went back to sleep, cooked lunch and slept again after supper, which I usually don’t do, but that was only for a week, after that“ I slept as bad as usual
