installing electric wire (not net) on wood fence, how to add ground wire

Yes, coons are a worry too.

The birds had a visitor fox the other day in broad daylight. I was there so the fox took off. Lost one to something, maybe the fox, a week ago in broad daylight while I was away.

RE locking up that is another topic ... they roost in the caged run area, not in the coop like they did early on. These birds were born in Feb this year. My first set. I have a nice electric door on the coop and discovered one day when I was letting them out that the door hadn't opened yet so they slept in the run roosts, apparently. I checked for snakes if that was scaring them. They are producing eggs at a normal rate so not sure why they avoid the coop unless it is too hot, or the covered coop is roomier. At some point they will go in because it is too cold out at night. The door has been disabled. I may wire off the roosts in the run area to encourage them to go in if they prefer to roost.

Yea, roosting outside of a coop is an invitation to dinner imo. I've had a fox inside the coop before. I went out after dark to lock up and he was stuck inside cuz all the commotionhad caused the chicken door to swing closed. I walked in n started kicking at him he jumped on the roost poles then up a wire divider n out the open soffit.
