Instinct or Aggression and what to do?

They will probably wake up, look around for him, and cheer!
I do hope that you let the new people know what he's been doing, so they will be aware, in case he tries to be difficult there. He may be good in a new place, where he won't feel secure, at least at first. Some humility will be good for him!
Maybe try raising some cockerels this spring, if you still want a rooster out there.

I told them he was becoming a little feisty and was getting to be a little too much for me and probably for the girls to handle. I think an unfamiliar place with some more space and some new faces and a lot more girls will be a good thing for him. Probably the best possible scenario really.

I'm not sure if I want another rooster. It was fun and he sure was pretty and I loved his cock-a-doodle do-ing, but I think things may just be easier keeping all girls. I'll play it by ear.

Good call Joe!
Hard decision and glad you found someone with more space to take him,
rather than the other options.
I'd guess the girls will 'cheer' too...they may be a bit confused, but give them a few days and they'll be fine.

Grats on the egg!
Put some fakies in the nests to show them where.

Thanks aart. I'll kinda miss him but I think it is what is best for him and the girls. The new owners texted me this morning and said he's doing great at his new home, he's like a pig in mud.

Understood....everyone will be happier now, except your missing him a bit.
That will pass, mostly.
Cock/erels can be a great experience but they do present some challenges.
Down the road you may have more space and be able to keep one,
For now, enjoy your pullets...and those eggs!

Itll definitely pass, especially if I see the girls happier. It was fun to raise him and I have lots of good pictures. Things were definitely calmer in the run this morning, without a doubt.

Things are much different in the coop today. The girls are pecking around, digging dirt baths, and rolling around in the sun. They seem much, much calmer without the rooster around. I'm glad to see it, I feel better that I made the right choice.
