Integrating a cat with chickens

Here's an update to my experience after about 2 years. The cat in question never was a problem. She loved to play a game with the chickens by stalking them and rushing them, but she never got close enough to hurt them. She loved to see them panic and run away. Now they know her game and don't get as flustered when she comes around. When she doesn't sense the fear, she doesn't play her game. She walks among them like it's all one big happy family.

I got another cat since my initial post, and she's great. She completely ignores the chickens. Even shows them healthy respect. They are completely unfazed by her.

I have a cat that's 4 years old, and she lives IN the coop, poops in the run, drinks out of the chicken waterer, and suns herself on the other coop's roof. As long as you don't see any aggressiveness in the cat, then you'll probably be fine. You'll esp. be

My coop has a sand floor, so of course my cat likes to pee and poop in there. One of her forbidden pleasures. It's hilarious when she has the audacity to do it when the chickens are sitting on the roost. They sit there looking at her like, "What in the h*** are you doing?" The cat is so shameless. Barging into someone's house while they're there and pooping on the floor.
