We have 17 chicks total. We had to get 3 of them two weeks later than the rest due to a hatch issue at the hatchery. The first batch (14 chicks) are 6 weeks old, the second batch are 4 weeks. We set up a separate brooding area for the 3 that came later since the first ones were already significantly bigger and didn’t want the little ones getting injured. This was set up right next to the larger brooder with the 14 older chicks so they could hear each other, but unfortunately couldn’t see each other.

The 6 weekers were officially moved from the brooder to the coop two days ago. The 4 weekers are not quite feathered in (large breed) and temps are still dropping fairly chilly at night, so I didn’t feel they were ready to go out at the same time. I had hoped our temps would be more stable so I could make that transition at the same time and separate their area, just to eliminate the territorial aspect. I have a heat lamp set up in one corner so they’d have a warmer area and our coop is not drafty but it still makes me nervous 😂 So I am now wondering what the best approach is for integrating the 3 younger chicks with the older ones. I’m hoping it’s a slightly easier process since they’re close in age. Any advice is appreciated!!

My aunt did this, let them see each other through some sort of chicken wire or hardware cloth for an hour or more and then release them. Just watch and make sure they don’t get bullied to much. It should go smoothly since they’re only 2 weeks apart
Good luck
