We moved our 12, 8 week old chicks to the coop a few days ago. They love it! We are
Getting two hens that are laying this weekend. Thoughts on integrating them? Should they be fine?!

Please isolate the hens you are getting! The biggest problem getting anything other then chicks for your flock is that you don't know if they have any problems and if they do they can spread it. Rule of thumb is to isolate for one month, for some this is just not possible. While isolated check them over for a few things. Does their poop look normal? (not green, yellow, or frothy) Are their legs red? Do they have bite marks or q-tip look to the base of their feathers near their vent? Are their combs bright or pale? Do you see bugs either on them or in their poop? Do they look drunk? Are there black spots on their comb? Ask the person you are buying them from if they have a worming schedule and if so what they use and how often. Let us know if you have the setup to keep them separate for a month and if not we will do the best checking with you to give the best integration possible with limited time. Also, answer these questions for us as you can so if there is a problem we can walk you threw it to get it taken care of before it infects your entire flock. If there is a problem knowing if you would prefer natural or chemical treatments would help us in giving you advise.

Ok I really appreciate the help. I am not entirely sure how to separate them at this point!! the coop is 10x10 and really one room, roost on one side and best boxes on the other. Open space in the middle. Then a 20x30ft yard that is fenced. They do come from a reputable local guy so I pray they are ok!

At the very least bring them home in a dog create or something of the sort and keep them in there until they poop. They poop several times an hour so it won't be long. Make sure the poop is not bright green, yellow, or frothy. Then check their vents and under their wings for signs of lice and mites. If all looks clear then you have done the best you can with the options you have. Expect some chest bumping and a little pecking on the roost. These are ways they figure out the pecking order and is normal as long as they are not drawing blood. Mix them at night for the least stress on all of them and put something in the coop so that the little ones can hid if they want to (a little box facing the wall with only enough room for the young ones to get into works great).
