All my birds are purebred pekin bantams, very similar to Cochin bantams, very friendly and round and docile
My other cockerels look real scruffy at the moment though they are molting

Your possums are way different from ours!

They sure are! Putting chili paste on the tomatoes stopped them from eating them
Maybe you could put chili paste on your birds

Thanks, but ... not practical. We never know when an opossum or raccoon might show up. I can't see applying condiments to my poor birds every night on the off chance a predator might come to visit.

Ooh, that's terrible. I've only ever lost an occasional chicken to a raccoon or coyote, and it's been several years. I think it's because of our dogs.

I lost three in one go, but I didn’t hatch those guys so I wasn’t as devastated but still very sad

I don't hatch mine either, I buy from a hatchery, but still. These are my BABIES!
