I am hatching 5 chicks in an incubator and 6 under silkies. My DH wants to keep the incubator ones in the house because he wants them to get to know him. Is that true? Or how would I integrate the indoor chicks with the outdoor chicks? These are Polish, half being hatched by silkies.

Some chickens do grow attached to their people while others prefer their feathered friends. I think it depends on the chicken's personality. We have had chickens in the past grow very attached to us and all of ours have been raised outside. If your chicks are due to hatch at around the same date, I would just put the babies in with the silkie hen and she will just think that she hatched those as well. It is recommended to put the chicks in with her by sneaking them under her in her nest while it is dark/she is sleeping.
