Hey guys, I just would like a little advice on integrating a cockere to an established flock.
My niece and nephew in-law have decided to adopt one of my roosters. He is 11 weeks old today, barnyard mix. They currently have 5 ladies who are 2 years old.
They are willing to take him anytime I am ready to part with him - ha! My question is, and I realize this opinion probably varies, but is it best to introduce him to his new girls now or wait until he is a bit bigger. I don’t mind hanging on to him until the right time. I just didn’t know if it’s best to get him there now before his hormones kick in or wait until they do?
What’s best for him? What’s best for their girls? Thanks in advance!
Here’s a pic of the handsome devil, Sam (aka: $h!thead, and we call him that with the utmost affection)

I have a few roosters, I hate to part with, currently in line to keep are ...spitz mix friendly, Also a pink feathered EE mix, and an AC I have not really tamed, not mean but pretty. I caught a LO roo, I was going to put in a box to eventually process, and the little spitz came running up to see what the squaking was about, then he looked to the sky, and rounded up his group of little ladies and headed for shelter. That rooster just did what you keep roosters for!

I took Sam the rooster to his new flock today. My nieces boyfriend is a ‘throw him in and see what happens’ kind of guy.
Sam was very cautious and respectful.
One of the hens challenged him and he stood up for himself but did not continue the altercation. After that he kept slowly following then trying to make friends and hangout. The girls eventually relaxed and let him get closer while still maintaining distance - they’ve never seen a dude before!
When I left all seemed well. Hopefully at bedtime it’s still peaceful.
Sm spending lots of time with my flock today (3 hens and 1 rooster) while they adjust to his absence. Honestly they seem oblivious to him being gone. Maybe it’s me that needs the reassurance.

Funny I would say throw him in.
I currently have 5-4/5 month old roosters, I plan on keeping 2-3. 3/5 recently decided to rove about and gang on young hens. One seems nice and follows but doesn't gang, and one is totally indifferent. 2 of the gang members I was hoping to keep because of beauty, I am wait and see on them, hoping they will mellow out. None attack me though.

Good luck with all your boys, I hope they mellow out for you. I would loved to have kept Sam but we only have 3 hens and are only keeping our one boy because he went blind and I figured no one else would take on a blind guy and couldn’t bare the thought of his fate being the freezer.
Sams new mom sent me pics of him having cantaloupe with his 4 new lady friends.
